Filip was born in Gdansk, Poland. His father, Marcin, a yacht builder and engineer, loved to sail and taught his son how to handle dinghies on the Polish Mazury Lakes, as Filip joined the Gdansk Sea Scouts.
Aged 18 he joined the renowned Yacht and Powercraft Design course at Southampton Solent University as a design student. A further three years later he graduated as a Naval Architect.
During his time at Southampton he cruised the Solent and also became team racing captain at Southampton University Sailing Club.
Filip’s passion and talent to achieve failsafe blue water yachts is second to none and based on first hand experience on vessels that weren’t up to the challenge. Filip manages the Kraken design team and works alongside Pete Lawson, Kraken Yachts’ Structural Engineer and Ozge, our Interior Designer. He oversees the entire build process and works with the engineers to finalise any design changes. His passion to produce the perfect blue water yacht is a process that never ends.
